WOD: Monday 2, May 2011

What a rainy weekend! I hope everyone got at least a little of the work done they were hoping for. We had a great weekend of wods and finished up the CrossFit Open workouts so if you are intested if anyone you know has made it to the regionals you can go to www.games.crossfit.com and click on the leaderboard to see.

skill: rowing
Your coaches will work with you on your rowing form. These will consist of short sessions on the rower and should be a good warm up for the wod!

wod: 2 rowing tabatas
1st group will complete a tabata. Then rest.
2nd group will complete their tabata after the first then rest.
1st group will then complete their tabata to complete the wod.
2nd group will then complete their tabata to complete their wod.

If there is a 3rd or 4th group they will be inserted after the second group.

Scoring is based upon total distance rowed.

What is a tabata?
For twenty seconds do as many reps of the assigned exercise as you can – then rest 10 seconds.
Repeat this seven more times for a total of 8 intervals, 4 minutes total exercise.
The score is the least number of reps for any of the eight intervals.

This workout was a ton of fun. Everyone did excellent and I look forward to see the scores tonight!

This was a good workout. Especially with the rowing professional, Caitlin! :) Just an fyi–we used the interval setting on the rowing machine to do 20 seconds on and 10 seconds off, so that the meters wouldn’t count except for during the 20 seconds on. If you just do it according to the clock on the wall, the rower will continue to add up your distance during your “rest” time because the fan is still running. This probably makes a noticable difference depending on which way you score it :)

    Thanks Jenny :)

I can show the coaches how to get the machines to do Tabata timing so you don’t have to worry about doin’ it with the wall timer, if you want.

    Great job today everybody!
