For most runners and triathletes, February is the beginning of the training season. Whether you’re looking to break the 2 hour mark in the Mini or to try a longer distance triathlon, we’d like to hear about it. Leave a comment and tell us what race(s) in which you’re planning to compete. It would be great for you all to get some endurance wods in with each other, whether at the gym or away. I am working on ideas and plans for group endurance wods and hope to start them up again next month.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already done so, think about what you want to accomplish this year. Don’t be afraid to set some big goals. Challenge yourself. Take the confidence and strength you’ve gained doing CrossFit and apply that to a race or event that you’ve thought about but never committed to doing.
One of our members, Chris Mason went to a race as a spectator and ended up signing up to do it himself the next year. It was a race & distance that he knew would challenge him more than any other he had done before. Read about his thoughts on incorporating CrossFit and CrossFit Endurance wods into his triathlon training below. Also, feel free to ask him about his current race times and strength levels compared to a few months ago.

2011 Mini possibly Giest and Carmel half marathons
I ran the Dances with Dirt relay last year. This year, I’ll be attempting the 50k… should be a good time. http://www.dwdgnawbone.com/
I’d like to do a sprint tri at Eagle Creek. Quite possibly the one in June. Anybody else want to do that one? I’m signed up to run the Indy mini too. I need to get me some running in!
Kevin, I plan on doing a couple of the Eagle Creek sprint tri’s. I don’t know if June works though…may be doing the PlanetAdventure 24 hour race that weekend.
For those interested in trail runs, D.I.N.O. puts on a great 5k/15k series that starts up soon.
Kevin, Caitlin and I are doing the Eagle Creek in June if you want to do it with us. I think Lin and Keith are 95% in as well.
I plan on doing all the DINO 5K’s Chris mentioned along with their 2 Xterra Tri’s. Lin has mostly convinced me to do the sprint tri at Eagle Creek in June.
Check out the link below if you’re looking for a fun, obstacle ridden, MUDDY race. If anyone is interested we can compete as a team.

My wife and I plan to sign up for that Big Ten 5K that Billy posted a while ago. We are signed up for the Mini as well. It’ d be fun to get together with anyone participating in those runs.
I’m signed up for the 2011 Indy Mini for May and I will sign up for the Mudathlon again this year and a couple of the D.I.N.O’s… Also the Nationwide Insurance Mini in Columbus Ohio in October (it’s a Marathon/Mini…I’m only doing the mini).
I am doing the Ironman Muncie and Steelhead Ironman this summer. I’ll also probably do a few of the local sprints as well.
Signed up for my very first sprint tri (Carmel) on April 17th.
doing the Big Ten run I believe the Courtney’s are doing it
